PLANNED LEARNING EXPERIENCES:
Pupils will study a variety of texts from different genres: prose, drama, poetry and printed media.
Their writing will progress as they produce a range of work from creative to transactional writing. They will be introduced to critical essay writing, building skills of analysis and evaluation.
For one period per week, pupils will focus on a range of literacy skills such as research, group discussion and delivering presentations. As well as improving skills, it will raise pupil awareness of literacy and encourage them to transfer these skills across the curriculum.
PROGRESS IS ASSESSED THROUGH:
Progress will be assessed through a variety of processes: self assessment, peer assessment and teacher assessment. Pupils will record their progress in a profiling document.
Homework will be issued regularly to consolidate the skills of the classroom.
